Assistant Manager Insurance and Provident Fund
Job Description
The successful candidate will be part of Finance Division, Insurance and Provident Funds department.
The candidate will be expected to perform the following roles and responsibilities:
- Renewal of insurance policies under your charge:
- Collate and review required information from different sources within the SIA Group (including joint venture entities) and prepare underwriting data for submission to brokers.
- Supervise staff on the collation of the basic information and review the information collated for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare management papers for renewal of insurance policies, evaluate renewal proposals received from brokers, and conduct market research on industry developments to assess competitiveness of proposals.
- Coordinate with brokers and insurer/reinsurers to issue certificates of insurance, local admitted policies, verify and process premium invoices and recharge to subsidiaries on a timely basis.
- Handling of insurance claims (filed by internal or external claimants):
- Assess and evaluate assigned insurance claims based on established guidelines, processing claims on a timely basis.
- Analyse, supervise or prepare claims reports on a regular basis for submission to Head of Department and/or insurer/reinsurers.
- Leverage on digitalisation and IT to raise productivity and efficiency of claims processing.
- Supervise staff on claims monitoring and follow up and ensure timely settlement by insurer/reinsurers.
- Physical inspection of damaged assets or property where necessary.
- Providing timely advisory to business units:
- Assist and support business units with clarifications on existing insurance cover and insurance requirements.
- Provide timely advice pertaining to insurance coverage and indemnity clauses in contracts and agreements to business units.
- Support business units on special projects, advising on new insurance coverage availability and price.
- Provident Funds:
- Assist and support business units on enquiries relating to Defined Benefit / Defined Contribution provident funds set up by overseas stations.
- Engage pension consultant on behalf of overseas stations for the purpose of redesigning or reviewing existing pension schemes.
Requirements
- Possess a degree in finance, business or actuarial studies.
- Professional qualification in Insurance or Associateship of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) or equivalent would be an advantage but not necessary.
- Prior relevant work experience in the General Insurance industry would be an advantage but not necessary.
- Possess strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Able to build and maintain open and trusting partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Make well-considered and timely decisions in work and assigned projects, while paying attention to critical details.
- Possess excellent planning, organisation and time management skills.
- Able to multitask, work under pressure, and highly motivated to achieve optimum results.
