Cargo - Associate Cargo Space Management
Job Description
The successful candidate will be part of Cargo Division, Cargo Space Management Department.
Key Responsibilities
Queue Clearing
- Evaluate bookings and accord stations with a suitable response within an acceptable time frame.
- Juggle booklists of flights, shifting bookings, to accommodate station’s requests and maximize bookings on flights.
- Process and clear booking queues.
Flight maximisation
- Perform pre-flight editing functions
- Manage overbooking or backlog situation by adjusting bookings and allocations.
- Work with stations to fill up any available space on the flights due to no-show of cargo and to promote cargo lying in SIN.
- Liaise with Hub Operations and Ground Handling Agent (GHA) to ensure cargo is loaded as planned, to maximise loading and minimise space wastage.
- Liaise with Hub Operations and GHA on critical flights with trim issues. Ensure cargo on such flights is built in AULDs that achieve an optimal trim, to maximise loads that can be uplifted on these flights.
- Oversee space planning of narrow-body aircraft and ensure bookings within trim.
Manage flight allocations
- Update and respond to stations on ad-hoc space release.
Manage flight changes
- Reallocate space in the event of flight upgrades/downgrades, cancellations or other ad-hoc changes.
Service reliability
- Manage overbooking to minimise service failures such as offloading.
- Monitor cargo lying list and ensure they are rebooked to the next available flights. - Brief GHA on the uplift priority for cargo on critical flights.
Knowledge of aircraft characteristics for cargo loading
- Ensure shipment compatibility on flights booked.
- Check and confirm that special cargo (eg. AVI, PER, DGR) can be accepted after verifying booked loads on requested flights.
- Check and confirm dry ice limits on aircraft.
- Check for any other special operational requirements of shipments.
Operational issues
- Work closely with Hub Operations on operational issues.
Communication with stations
- Ensure frequent communications with stations to keep them updated on space outlook: destinations which are tight and those which require more support.
- Status of requests: prompt response to stations with regards to their space requests.
Make use of IT tools to improve operational efficiency
- Embrace IT tools to improve work processes.
Alternate for Shift Supervisor and to provide coverage for shift Snr Associates when necessary.
Requirements
- Diploma holder
- Knowledge of the Airfreight Industry
- Experience in the Operations division of an airfreight company to facilitate understanding of load planning and aircraft configuration (good to have but not essential)
- Understanding of IT and air cargo industry
- Communication skill – written and oral
- Ability to work on non-routine problems
- Ability to get along with people at different levels
- Ability to work within a team
- Ability to manage time and prioritize work accordingly
- Open to work on rotating shifts (8.5 hours shift)
