Curator (2 Years Contract)

Job Description

The successful candidate will join our Culture & Engagement department to develop and implement industry-aligned archival policies, manage and preserve SIA’s significant artefacts, lead corporate and 
community education initiatives, and craft research-driven narratives for impactful storytelling at the SIA Gallery. 


Key Responsibilities 

Curate the SIA Gallery through exhibitions, storytelling, and immersive audience engagement:  

  • Curate and execute the Gallery’s long-term exhibition strategy. Craft elevated narratives and curate artefacts that showcase the company’s milestones and legacy, supported with meticulous historical research.
  • Develop immersive storytelling experiences that connect with diverse audiences while reinforcing brand identity.
  • Enhance engagement through thoughtfully designed audio-visual guides tailored to different audience profiles (employees, customers, industry partners, community, and youth).

Safeguard SIA’s heritage by cataloguing and conserving artefacts and records: 

  • Oversee the preservation of SIA’s legacy by rigorously cataloguing artefacts and records, safeguarding both physical and digital heritage through conservation best practises and strategies that guarantee authenticity, accessibility, and endurance for the future.

Plan and execute corporate and community awareness and education efforts:

  • Plan and execute engagement initiatives that extend the reach of the SIA Gallery through awareness and educational programming. This includes proposing, curating, designing, organising, and executing activities and programmes that foster awareness, build partnerships, and/or encourage active participation in preserving collective memory.  

Drive outreach to encourage donations and/or loans of artefacts to enrich the SIA Gallery:

  • Engage members of the public, including private collectors, to encourage donations and/or loans of artefacts that support the narrative of the SIA Gallery.  
  • Assess potential acquisitions for relevance, authenticity, and condition, ensuring arrangements are aligned with procurement or procedural standards and Gallery requirements. 

 

Requirements

  • A Degree (Bachelor's or Master’s) in Archival Science, History, Museum Studies, Curatorial Practices, or a related field, is required.  
  • Excellent business writing, analytical, and presentation skills – to engage with stakeholders and diverse audiences.
  • Collaborates well in Teams – coordination required with internal business units for curation.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills – to independently evaluate, analyse, and propose solutions. Strong knowledge of archival methods, theories, and standards.
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in curatorial fields, with a strong understanding of curation standards and practices.  
  • Demonstrates proofreading precision and creative writing expertise to craft compelling narratives.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to evaluate and prioritise artefacts based on institutional significance.  
  • Experience with physical and digital preservation, and asset management systems.
  • Experience in project management, able to demonstrate capabilities/portfolio in recent curation and/or exhibition work.
