Senior Executive/Assistant Manager Industrial Relations

Job Description

The successful candidate will join the Industrial Relations Department in SIA Human Resources Division. The candidate will be responsible to manage the relationship between management, in-house unions and employees. He/she will be the custodian of the Company’s Code of Conduct, managing the internal disciplinary process and investigations into employee misconduct cases.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong labour–management relations through close engagement with in-house unions, including the Airline Executive Staff Union (AESU), Air Line Pilots Association – Singapore (ALPA-S) and the Singapore Airlines Staff Union (SIASU), particularly in areas of collective bargaining and change management.
  • Monitor the evolving employment landscape to ensure the Company’s practices comply with applicable employment legislation and regulations, especially in relation to workplace discrimination, fair employment practices and grievance handling.
  • Serve as custodian of the Company’s internal disciplinary process and Code of Conduct, ensuring consistent, fair and timely application across all cases.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including providing advice to stakeholders and overseeing end-to-end grievance handling and resolution.
  • Adopt a data-driven approach to analyse complex employee and industrial relations issues and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations that balance employee needs with organisational objectives, particularly in collective bargaining and during organisational change.


Requirements

  • Possess a University Bachelor’s degree, and familiar with local labour legislation such as Employment Act, Industrial Relations Act and Trade Unions Act
  • Experience in employee relations and investigations, grievance handling or union relations will be preferred
  • Critical thinking skills, able to view issues from broad perspectives and strength in data analysis
  • Strong inter-personal skills and the confidence to work with management, departmental heads and union leaders
  • Emotional maturity and personal integrity
  • Resourceful, independent and be able to propose practical solutions
  • Experience with Success Factors HR would be an advantage
